Anybody else thing the manual for this is really vague ?

Most things are self explanatory and easy to do - but I can't figure out some of the more advanced buttons. (Chan Info, Rotary Encoders, etc.)

Anybody using a Footswich for this ?

I have one hooked up - but it does nothing.

(Using Pro Tools, Audition, and Reaper).

All foot switches are not created equal. You need to buy one with the correct polarity for your unit.

As far as your confusion with the functions of the control surface, I'd suggest a basic midi primer as a place to start. The channel info may refer to midi channels or channels on the unit itself but from your description I can't help you further.

Here's a link to the M Audio web site and what they call a 'video tour' of the Project Mix ---

I'm actually thinking of picking one of those bad boys up for some analog action. Are the faders flying faders? For 1200 bucks, is it worth it? Just looking for some personal opinions...

Forgive my ignorance, but if by flying you mean motorized, then yes. A friend of mine just got one and though he hasn't done any serious recording with it yet, it seems like the way to be if you need to have access to faders. Personally, I'm fine with using a mouse for now.:D
