Hey guys,
I'm thinking about recording some of my songs. I want to record the drums and vocals in a studio but would like to record guitars at home, maybe using my M-Audio Ozone, to save some expenses. I plan on using it with some quality pre-amps, so I'm really only interested in the converter part. Question: Can I get a (almost) professional result from that unit? Or should i rather buy something else? Thanks.

The converter will only affect the clarity and sharpness of your captures.
The converter will not define the VALUE of your work. (Pro or amateur).

Even thou, this is my conclusion after so many years of work,
it may not be your conclusion. You must find your answer.

Let's put it from a different perspective:

If you compare the photography from "Rocky 1" to most modern movies today,
you will see, there's a significant evolution in sharpness, colors and definition.

But how many movies you've seen with an outstanding photographic resolution, in
wich you've come out of the theater saying... WHAT A PIECE OF S#IT MOVIE.

Hundreds.

But "Rocky"... why Rocky still stands out against all today's crap, even thou it has
one of the worst camera focus, resolution, crappy colors, poor light, etc?
Cause Rocky is a neat idea, a neat concept & a well written script.

The "Film" is just the MEDIA in wich you're archiving your IDEA.
You will get the OSCAR anyways.

I think the OZONE is a very cute little piece of equipment.
1 Preamp w/ Phantom
1 Line Input
Keyboard w/ MIDI I/O
Pro Tools Compatible.

I will be happy with that interface on a desert island.
I would do my drums with the keyboard, i would record my guitar with the
line in, and do some vocal tracks with that preamp any day.

Everything i need with 1 piece.

thanx for your reply - insightful :) . i really enjoy using, and i use it just the way you described. btw, how clear/sharp do you consider Ozone's converters?
