Hey gang,
Looking for some words of wisdom. I currently have a small studio set up in my home, and have been starting to get a little paid work, which is nice. It's based around the M-audio Omnistudio/Delta 66 combination, and while this has worked well for me, I am beginning to yearn for something more.
First and foremost, I need a card that will give me at least 8 ins (drums) vs. the 6 I've been using on the Omni. I've been considering the e-mu 1820m, based on the quality of its ad/da converters and the fact that its preamps are supposed to be solid. I'm also hoping to achieve a better "thickness" in my recordings - I find them somewhat "thin" compared to other studios in the region, and I'm hoping better ad/da and better pre's might help out.
Question: will I notice a big enough difference in the quality of my tracks to upgrade to the e-mu? I'm hoping to "hear the difference" right away. Can anyone who's used both the delta 66 and the 1820m compare their sound?
