hi,
we're looking at getting some monitors for our home studio and these are the ones we've been looking at so far. I just wondered what ppls opinions are of either of them and also are the BX5s alot better than the DX4s or not?

we don't want to spend too much money, under 200 pounds really, that's why these monitors seem to be good for the price, wud i be rite in thinking that? we want to bet the best for our money, and find sumthing available in the UK!

any help would be appreciated thanks,

Lauren

I bought the BX5's a couple of weeks ago from Digital Village - BX5 page and they have been great. I too was looking at the 4's but after a bit of reading up decided on the 5's.

They seem to get a pretty good rap in Future Music this month as one of the top contenders in the buget range of monitors.

I for one can recommend them.

Hope this helps.
:)

I just bought the BX5's today after comparing them to the KRK RP5's. They are the same price at $299. The clerk and I both agreed that the BX5's were a clear winner - you could hear much more in the mix compared to the KRK's.

The BX5's were also recommened as the best studio monitors in their price range by Electronic Musician in 2002.

Based on Future Music, you may want to consider a pair of Yamaha 3's. (I forget the exact name, but they're the small Yamaha powered monitors) Or there are the Fostex PM05's. I have these, and I think they're great -- mixing on them always gets me in the ballpark.
