M-Audio Mobile Pre USB

I've had one for quite a while. I could NEVER get it to work with my Compaq Presario laptop, even though the computer spec'd out way better than neccesary - so it basically was a wasted purchase...until about a week ago when I got a new computer. It works well with it. So, who knows. It is (I'm pretty sure) only 16 bit, which is fine, but most folks recommend 24 these days for reasons that can be found elsewhere on this site.

In short, I would say if you are SURE that 2 tracks is enough at once, and the bit depth isn't a concern, go for it, if it's a good deal.
 
Well, my situation is unique in that I just moved cross country, and had to unload all my gear back east. Eventually, I will be buying a much nicer (and more expensive) fire wire solution. For now however, I have a road trips worth of stuff in my head to record. I figured this unit at $80 was a good deal to just get the basics recorded until im better settled and able to pick up a nice fire wire unit....

So, Im thinking it's a good deal. I have a Dell Desktop that has been compatible with all my USB applications with the exception of my Tascam 122. No idea what happened to that one....
 
Another question for this unit if you have used it...I have a boss GT-3 effects processor...any reason why that wouldnt work in conjunction with this unit?
 
I had one for about a year: worked well for my purposes! The preamps aren't amazing, but if it's just for putting down ideas and whatnot, it should work just fine for ya! I like it 'cause it's powered by USB so there's only one cord to bring along, and if you lose it, you can buy another one almost anywhere in the country.

And yes, it's 16/44.1 (to answer a previous question)
 
Picked it up yesterday. Thanks for all responses....

The seller ended up being the girl from the cover of The Killers "Sam's Town record, if you can believe that! hah...

aww! You guys are not nice! haha....

She was very, very attractive in person. The Killers cover doesnt do her justice... :cool:
