M Audio has a new mic

Here's the description:

"...the Solaris has been designed with features usually reserved for more expensive and exotic microphones, such as a three-micron diaphragm, selectable polar patterns, bass roll-off filter and switchable -10 dB pad. Its designer look and vintage motif are guaranteed to command attention... ...estimated street price is under $300."

You could say the same about the Studio Projects B3 which sells for almost half of that.

OTOH, I briefly tried the Luna at Summer NAMM and really liked it, but had nothing to compare it to. The Solaris may be a notch above the B3 and well worth the extra $.

If anyone gets a chance to actually use the Luna or Solaris, please let us know what you think.

I think the Luna looks great in person. I didn't bother to test it though...

I personally think the Luna looks nice and I might have liked the Solaris look more if it was finished in black...

In any case, both this and the Luna are on my "To listen to" list...
