Right now I have a PIII 750Mhz 265 RAM Laptop that I want to use for recording . It has XP installed, but I'm not too happy about that as it consumes alot of RAM.
I still have an old Windows 98 (Not SE!!!) disc lying here somewhere and I was thinking of installing that to save some RAm. But.. I am planning to use it with a Firewire Audiophile and I'm not sure if the 2 of them are compatible.
Any help would be appreciated.

From the M-Audio site:
minimum system requirements (PC)

Pentium III 500 MHz w/ 128MB RAM
Windows 2000 (SP4) / XP (SP1)
DirectX 8.1 or higher
6-pin FireWire port or adapter

So no, Win98 isn't supported. Which is quite common with today's audio interfaces.

That's not to say it won't work with 98.
Just because it's not supported don't mean it can't work.
It might.
Probably not though.
What are the chances?

Good luck with that there
