Which M-Audio interface is better, the Omnistudio USB or Firewire 410? If I can get either one at around the same price, which one should I go with? Can someone tell me which one has the most inputs? The Firewire says it is 4x10, but I keep reading you can only use 2 at a time, anyone know if this is true? Does anyone know if the pre-amps are the same, or if on interface is better? I really appreciate the help.

Thanks alot.

i guess i would say firewire since that seems to be greatest thing since sliced bread

Get Firewire and you'll be better off in the long run. Although I have had no problems with USB yet.. many others have.

USB 1.1 (default on the OMNI Studio USB) is 12Mbs
USB 2.0 (apparently OMNI refurbished or something) approx. 400Mbs
Firewire 1439a (old standard) 400Mbs
Firewire 1439b (new standard) 800Mbs

What does all this Mbs mean. Cable connection is 100Mbs.
It all depends what you want to do, but Firewire 1349b will give at least a couple of years of use out of it.

Have fun shopping.

P.S. - I asked the same question and then when and researched the speeds of each standard. I've opted to go Firewire.
