Greetings and Merry Christmas:

I have a Delta 44. Windows XP system. The driver Cd does not have a designated XP Driver. What to do? Should I visit M-Audio website for correct driver? I think so. Also, the breakout box uses TRS (tip ring sleeve) connex. Will I be able to use tip sleeve/reg 1/4 unbalanced or do I need adapter. Oh I almost forgot, some assembly required. Be well.

Hello - You need to pick up a driver off the website. I ran the Windows 98 driver on XP with a little success, but I hadn't realised at the time how easy it was to get a proper driver.

Unbalanced leads are fine, you need to set the input sensitivities for the card as directed in the manual. It's all explained quite well in there.

Hope that helps.

The Win2000 driver is the same as the XP driver. However, you still should grab a copy of the latest drivers off the M-Audio web site.

As noisedude suggests, if your cable runs are relatively short, you should be OK with unbalanced cables. The balanced cable just helps to eliminate any noise picked up via the cable, which should be fairly minimal over short distances.

However, if you are going to buy new cables anyway, go for balanced.

Yup ... balanced cabling is the best choice but if you're making do with what you have then you'll be ok unbalanced. Let us know how you get on.
