I'm running a M-Audio Delta 410 card with Sound Forge 6.0 into a mackie mixer... When I record in a mono window at 16-bits, I see sound levels on both sides of the on-screen meter, and levels on both sides of the mixer...

All good.

But when I record at 24-bit, it shows levels on both sides of the on-screen meter, but only one channel goes to the mackie.

Is this a bad card, or am I missing something in my card or Sound Forge setup?

what are your settings in the record popup menu?

I've tried it all...

I've tried every combo of bit rate, khz rate, etc., but whenever I am in anything other than 16 bit, it drops to 1-channel output to the mackie.

And when I convert a 24 or 32 bit file to an .mp3, it reverts to 16-bit, and again plays to both channels.

I'm going to try stereo recording...

OK, that's really weird. I recorded 24-bit stereo, and it recorded and played back on both channels just fine. And after that, when I recorded mono, it showed BOTH channels working during playback and record.

BUT...

When I close Sound Forge, re-open and record mono FIRST, it does the same wacky one-channel thing.

Oh well, all I have to do is open a stereo window, then switch to a "New" mono window, and it works fine.

Hmmm.
