ok, this is just a question for pure knowledge. il explain the situation as brief as possible...

i record my drums, through my soundcraft spirit fx16, out of the direct outs into my delta 1010lt, and all saved onto hard disk. i do all my processing and what not, n then i want to do the final bit of burning.

now, i assume for this bit you would normally youse a cd recorder or something... having each track come out of my 10 outs on the delta, running back into my soundcraft, and the out of the main stereo out (which then normally go into a cd recorder or watever). this enables me to use my board to adjust volume levels as the track goes along etc, rather than using automation in software. but what if i wasnt going to use a cd recorder. now, my question is, would the delta 1010lt be able to play all these seperate outputs, and also take in a stereo mix of it all? i would then be able to save it into recording software in the same computer, and write it to the cd. i hope it makes sense, can it output and input at the same time in the way ive described? thanks for responses,

Steve

Yes you should be able to route the 8 outputs of the delta into your mixer, do the mix, and output stereo back into 2 of the delta inputs onto 2 tracks armed to record.

Not sure why you'd want to do it like this though

Have you explored this signal chain?

mic ---> soundcraft ---> via spdif ---> 1010LT?

haha, bulls hit, i dont know why i'd want to do that either! it was more a question to learn a bit more about the delta card.

wheelema - i havnt yet got my equipment, im still researching, making sure wat i get is the right stuff! if i remember correctly, isnt the spdif a digital in/out? where would i get a digital signal from on the soundcraft board i intend on using? thanks

Steve

My bad. I was thinking of the Soundcraft M series which does use S/PDIF. The FX16 does not.
