Is any one out there using this card? What's you opinion of it? Also, Does it have a place to hook up your audio from a CD player? IN other words, can I remove my Sb card completely if I bought one of these?

Great card.

Does it have a place to hook up your audio from a CD player?

If you are referring to a connection which allows you to run a cable from your CD-ROM to the sound card, the Delta does not have this connection.

However, most current software will allow you to play CD's digitally from your CD-ROM (e.g., WMP, WinAmp). This eliminates the need for a connecting cable. Therefore you could get rid of your SB.

I would keep the SB for midi, though. The Delta has no internal midi capabilities.

Maybe that explains one question I have ask and couldn't get a good response to! If I understand that right I don't even need to hook up the audio cable. Now I know why I don't have any outputs coming from my SB card but I can hear it from my speakers and have control of it through my D-Man control panel. Wow that had a lot of people confused... BTW, I use my JV-1010
for my midi sounds. That's one reason I wanted the Delta 1010 was so I only have one sound card in the computer instead of 2.

What do you mean? The Delta 1010 has midi ports on the front panel. You can use that, can't you?

CMiller -

The Delta 1010 has midi connections to allow coupling to an EXTERNAL midi source. It has no internal midi sound capability like an SB.

Which is just as well with Sonar, cause you really dont NEED the midi sounds anymore. They could come in handy though.

You know, after I posted I reread what you said and then I realized what you were trying to say. Sorry to confuse the issue!

TUbedude, What do you mean I wouldn't need the midi sounds anyway? You mean I wouldn't even need the Roland JV-1010? I've been thinking about upgrading from CW-PA9.0 to sonar... Explain what you mean please.
Thanks for all the responses....

I assume he's speaking of the DXi synths. At least that what I thought he was referring to.

Well I took the plunge, just upgraded to Sonar XL. Looks like I'm gonna have a lot more learning to do now. Well more questions for the forum anyway... How does everyone like sonar anyway? I hope it was worth the purchase!

Delta 10 10 works greatDoes it have a place to hook up your audio from a CD player

I have cakewalk pro audio 9 and i use the delta 10-10 and i have no conflicts at all. No latency problems and the midi ports are in a good place fro easy access. When i record 48kz with 24 bit it sounds just like the person in the room, very clear.

I would suggest getting a Ulta DMA card with a 40 gig drive for extra space and the DMA card to transfer the information from hard drive to computer for the simple reason of (DROP OUT).The DMA card will speed up the transfur time .

Does it have a place to hook up your audio from a CD player?
Yes it does! As long it as your CD has a SPDIF out,

1st! The delta 10-10 is made up of 2 cards. The 1st one gets pluged into the computer in one of your empty card slots. This is where you have to open up your computer and put the card in. It is on this card that you have 2 out puts.SPIDF in/out ,2nd The 25 pin contecter going out to the break out box or the 10 ins,10 outs. Which in turn are your analog in/out puts.

Your CD player will have to have a SPDIF out,It looks like a small square hole in the back of your cd player and if you remove the cap and look in to it you will see a small red light THAT IS A OUT PUT believe it or not ,Its' also called a optical out.

You will need a converter ,Which I have and problay would part with it for the right price with a fibre optic cable . It's made by midi man called Co2 .It has optical in/ out- and coaxial in /out those look like RCA jacks.

Now we'll put his all together:

Go from CD's player optical out to midiman's optical in. then from midiman's coaxial/RCA TYPE JACKS/ out to the Delta card that's installed on the back of your computer coaxial in/SPDIF in
set you Delta mixer program to receieve from your SPIDF in's and you got it made.

The reason i bought the the converter was i have a recordable/portable mini disk which most have a optical in and out /same port and I wanted to transferr my sounds INTO and FROM cake walk WITH OUT ANY IN LINE NOISE and no HUMS form analog conecters or bad grounds. It does sound wonderful and works great to . I can record a song in cakewalk then send the song to my mini-disk with out ever going through my anlog out puts and vice versa. It's just another way for Higher High Fedelity .And probaly would part with it for the right price.Drop me a line.
