M-Audio BX5 D2 - used

so there's a pair of used M-Audio BX5 D2's at a local big box music store for only $80, and the new pairs now range from $160 (cyber monday week deals) to $300 for the pair.

I'm confident in the choice of monitor for my application, but the low price seems too good to be true. anyone have any thoughts? also, what can i do to test monitor speakers for flaws? are there any particular defects i should be looking out for?

they have them sitting right next to the new pair at $299, so they'll likely go quickly but i just don't want to get screwed.

Make sure you can try them out - or bring them back for refund if they dont' work correctly at home. Could be a buzz/rattle/bad amp/jack, etc...
