So, I've set this thing up to work with Ableton live. But it seems like all the documentation assumes you already know what you're doing with midi. I'm totally new to this, and find the setup very confusing. I downloaded the user's manual, but it doesn't even explain what information is being conveyed on the LCD. I want to re-map some of the drum pads, and map the knobs to my track volumes in Ableton. Are there any good beginner tutorials for this thing, or for midi setup in general?

just click the midi button on the left hand top of abletons screen, anything that turns blue can be assigned, then click on the volume fader, panning, send, midi clip etc and move the button or pad..it will now control this variable..once you've finished assigning click on the midi button again...the transport buttons should already be set

you can set up a number of empty tracks, assign buttons and pads then save as template so you dont have to do it everytime

That "blue highlighted" mode does nothing for me. Everything works, but nothing changes when in midi map mode...

also, how do I assign my drum pads to differnt keys on the piano roll in Ableton Live?

sorry mate I have no idea..I kept my axiom for a month before I got rid of it

all I know is I never used anything on the axiom to get it working with Live..I set it up as a controller in preferences, did a dump....thenassigned my rotaries and pads using the midi button on ableton...no problem

I never attempted to assign pads to keys..when using drums I assigned them to the pads on the instrument rack drums, just move the drum patches about untill the 8 I wanted to use were in the same notes as the pads (if that makes any sense)...why would you want to assign them to a piano roll?

cant reallly remember much else and I use a PCR now :(
