Ok, some of you guys have seen my other thread about my problem... HOWEVER;

I went out and purchased the quater inch to RCA jacks today... So, I'm running right/left channel (2 cords) quater inch down to the rca jacks on the IN of the soundcard. Now, I have the mic working, it works on the computer no problems (win xp). But, I didnt have sound, because I wasnt utilizing the OUT on the soundcard. So, I went from the TAPE IN on the behringer 1204 mixer, and went the audio out on the soundcard. At first, I had sound, but it was giving me a weird loud sharp hissing noise, like the microphone was turned up too loud. So, I turned the mic off, and the problem persisted, I now, wasnt sure what that was... So, I rebooted the computer... and after rebooting NOTHING worked. Well, now... I have the mic working, but I'm not able to get sound... and when I open winamp, it wont even play the file...

ANY SUGGESTIONS? Thanks...

Sounds like you had a loop. The kind of loop I'm refering to is when the output of a signal chain is fed back to itself at some point in the chain, and a subsequent gain stage keeps amplifying over and over till everything just starts to oscillate. Your loop was probably from mixer to soundcard input, to soundcard output, back into mixer, back out of mixer, back into soundcard, etc.
Take it one step at a time and understand your signal chain as you go. Use metering to find out where your signal is getting lost now, and keep your fingers crossed that you didn't fry something.

Good luck, RD

your mixer has lights that go from green to orange to red or green to yellow to red. are you getting a signal there? if so then go to the computer....in your control panel there is the H/W Media icon....click that....speak into the microphone and see if you are getting a signal there. if so then you should be ok. as for it not playing files anymore....in H/W Media there is a tab for your frequency ranges...if you have it locked on 96khz then alot of your files that have 44.1 and 48khz cant play because the media player cant read the 96khz ... in H/W Media you probably have it set at "rate locked" take that off so it has a free range of frequencies to play stuff. as for output....what are you using to listen to files?

Thanks for the help, I got it working now though.. Just 1 other problem :( But I'll make a new thread for it.
