M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 and interface

im about to buy a M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 and was wondering if i need to also buy the lexicon usb interface i was looking at also?

can i go right from mixer out to rca in on the M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 ?

Yes... you need only the mixer/preamp ("rca" out)and the 2496 ("rca" in/interface).
I had this set up some years ago, works and very well...
But 2496 has not a phone output.
You´ll have to use some aux on the mixer for phones (or monitoring), take a look...
