Using a M-Audio 410 Firewire with a Mac G5. I'm not a technical guy and the software control panel is confusing the hell out of me!! I need the left XLR input to go left and the right XLR input to go right.

How?

Thanks for any help!!

Assuming you've loaded the drivers correctly, in your recording s/w, set your Track 1 input to 'M-Audio Left 1/2' or whatever it says, and track 2 input to 'M-Audio Right 1/2'. This will get the left channel mic on track 1 and the right channel onto track 2

Thanks for the help!

Just figured out my problem, which is not what I originally thought.

Am using this with a digital hybrid by JK Audio to record phone conversations.

Problem seems to be the output. I need my voice, from the mic into Input 1, to go through the output and into the hybrid, which will then send it back over the phone for the caller to hear. The "caller" output on the hybrid then goes back into Input 2 on the M-Audio to record that on the right channel.

The issue I'm having is my voice is coming back over the "caller" output and it's doubling...one recorded with a mic and the other over the phone. I just need it over the mic. Phone should only be the caller.

If anybody knows about either the M-Audio 410 or JK Audio's hybrids, and can help me get this thing running, I'll be happy to pay you to get on the phone with me and fix it. Just PM me and we'll work it out.

Recording software is Audacity, by the way.

I'm not sure what a JK Audio is or does, but it seems to me you need some means of getting it to output only the caller's voice, and suppress your voice. Is it able to distinguish between your voice and the caller's?

Yeah, the JK Audio splits the caller's voice and mine. I get the caller via the phone, I speak/record through a mic, and my voice goes back down the phone line for the caller to hear.

But the stuff I'm sending down the line is coming back through the "caller" line off the hybrid and I'm getting my voice on both tracks, one via the mic and the other via the phone.

I think I have it norrowed it down to a wrong cable. Possibly a balanced cable, when I need mono...or vice-versa.

Which cable would I need for this? It should be like a guitar cable to a mono-mini, right?

FROM the M-AUDIO 410: These are unbalanced analog outputs on standard 1/4” TS connectors at 10dB line level. These outputs will support standard two-channel stereo, as well as surround modes up to 7.1. (Your audio software must support multiple surround outputs.)

TO THE HYBRID: Send 2 Input - 3.5mm mono mini jack input for signals
going into the phone line. Line level.

I also have the option of taking that signal through Send 1 Input - Female balanced XLR input for signals going into the phone line. Mic or line level input.

Thanks for all your help, guys!!
