m-audio 2496 multiple tracks simulataneosly

Hey I was wondering if there was a way to get multiple tracks simultaneously? And how would I go about doing it. I had read something about using the inputs with a mic preamp but I can't find it now (plus I don't have a mic preamp right now)

hmm. what are you asking?

i think you need a mic preamp for the 2496 since it doesn't have any built in. you should have 4 inputs on there and be able to record with all 4 at the same time, but you'll have to have 4 mic pre inputs.

The 2496 has two inputs and two outputs, yes? Then you can record up to two inputs at once. Here's how I do it:

Right, but I'd heard something about using s/pdif input you could get 6 tracks simultaneously (all together so like 3 through s/pdif). Maybe it was false but idk

Just looking at the manual and it says you can use all of the inputs simultaneously.
There should be PDF version somewhere.
