Hi,

I posted this to the Cubase zone, but seems to me there's more traffic over here.

Is anyone out there using one of the stand alone M Audio interfaces? (The Quattro or the Duo)

Man, oh man have I been losing it over this scenerio:

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my MAC G.3 Laptop (OS 9.1) to accept the Audio Duo's Drivers as my ins & outs---I.E No Signal In, No signal out!!

I don't know if

a)Cubase VST/32 and M Audio just don't mix

OR if

b)I'm having a problem cause there used to be a Tascam U-428 installed and the system is still set up for that unit...

I've tried taking away all the U-428 files, but it still shows up in my list of possible drivers in the Sound Control.....it might be causing me trouble..

Then again, at this point it could be anything! I'm new to Macs and Cubase, so I'm kind of shooting in the dark.

Any possible advice would be much appreciated!!!!

Thanks!

There should be an ASIO driver. You stick that in the folder of the program you are trying to record into. It should be on the driver CD. Good Luck.

no dice

thanks Beez'

I already did that before posting. That's a common fix with soundcards (Motu anyone?) but not with this puppy.

M Audio automatically installs into the Cubase folder.

Cubase recognizes the M Audio, but won't integrate it into Mac OS 9.1 as the "In" or "Out" sound driver.

There are a few posts concerning sister model the M Audio Quattro on cubase.net, everyone having the same problem. M Audio knows about it, but continues to push their product onto new users w.no warning. Hey wouldn't want to hurt the bottom line right? Doesn't matter if the shit doesn't work.

M Audio's solution? "We're gonna post new drivers onto our site any day now, just hold tight!"

My solution? I'm returning this piece of arse' and never buying M Audio EVER again. Seriously, i've spent the better part of the last 4 days obessing over this only to find that M Audio has knowingly released a component that is not compatible with any Cubase/VST platform running on any type of MAC.

So there it is,

let my tale serve as a warning to all Cubase/Mac users: DON'T BUY THE M-AUDIO DUO OR QUATTRO!!!!!

Everyone else, don't buy anything of theirs anyways, cause they're a crew of total scammers as far as I'm concerned. What kind of B-S is releasing something that doesn't work? At least state the fact that it is non-compliant with certain platforms. Releasing it, and then asking everyone to wait for a fix is totally F#*#ed and downright dishonest and unscrupulous.
