Hello, I am looking at basses and I was wondering if basses that are made of luthite are any good. Anyone know if they are good? I'm particularly looking at the Ibanez edb600.

I have a Ergodyne 5 string EDC705. There is a four string version as well called a EDC700. I liked the way it sounded and felt more then the EDB so I would recommend checking both out. You can get loads of different solid sounds/tones out of the EDC705.

Ibanez basses come with mid quality electronics but you could later upgrade it with a aguilar preamp. Thats a popular upgrade for that bass.

I have seen no drawbacks to a luthite EDC705 only pluses. Even after comparing it to other basses I have own (a high end spector, a fender J and a bc rich).

I found the luthite models to actually have a clearer sound and alot of sustain when comparing with other Ibanez models. it will have kind of a plastic smell for the first few weeks though because of the material its made from.

Have you looked at ampeg? They have this neato clear luthite. Just another idea.
