Hello

here's the deal: I've just bought my mixing console, but now I need a pro audio card to record everything. Until now I was sending everything from my Motif to my SB Audigy, and of course the sound was crappy. Since I want to make believe that I'm a perfectionist, I need a good soundcard for my comp (AMD 1.33 Ghz).

I wanted to get the Audiophile Midiman 24/96 or the Delta 44 (I don't need to record more than 3 or 4 tracks at once, at the most). Then I call the guys where I buy my gear, who are nice people and often give me good advice. He tells me that I might as well get a Luna 2, that it's better blabla.

I'm kinda lost now..what should I get? Anybody have experience with both of them, doubts and so on?

any input would be welcome, thanks!

the Luna is a Creamware card; they are known primarily for the onboard DSP. onboard DSP means that you can use effects or plug ins without taxing your CPU too much....the downside to this is that you are restricted to certain plug ins, and CPUs are now fast enough to handle many plug ins with no dedicated hardware support.

I've heard that Creamware is very demanding on what you have on your system. Meaning nothing but the Creamware stuff. I don't know about this card though, because the person who told me this had a Creamware setup before he got a Digi001 a year ago or so. So they might have changed.

From what I've read before on this BBS, Creamware's Support is pretty lousy.

You'd be better going for any M-Audio product at the moment as it seems that even if something doesn't work now, they'll fix it pretty it quickly.

Cheers,
Rich.
