Hey, I've got my new pickup and saddles on my guitar and its strung, but the saddles are little off in some spots, what tool would i use to move the little pegs, it looks like a tiny tiny allen wrench, or is there some kind of luthier tool you're supposed to use?

That's all it is...

make sure you use the right size whatever or you'll strip them for sure. Most of those grubs are pretty poor quality these days. What bridge have you got?

Yeah, tiny Allen. Most saddles need a .050 Allen wrench.

Well the saddles that came with cyclone were 'vintage spec' apparently, and I ordered the import replacement saddles from guitar fetish but the 'grubs' (the screw things?) were way shorter on them, so I ended up using the vintage ones because they fit without stripping and I figure I may want a higher action later if I do decide to explore slide more.

thanks, are they hard to find that small or is that a standard size sold in the sets?

Well, I've never found them hard to find. I reach up about a foot to get it off of my tool rest. Every now and then someone else in the shop will steal mine, but not often as they all have their own.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Most larger sets of allen wrenches have them.

Maybe it's overkill, but I loosen a string if I'm raising the saddle. I don't want to risk the set-screw or the wrench.

well i went to wal-mart today and bought an allen wrench set with .050 and got it home, took me five minutes to get it out of the plastic and then to put it to my saddles to find out its too small. Then I grab the 1/16th and its too big.

Ah! Metric then.

That's unusual for saddle height screws though, I promise you.

Is it? Its the stock screws, i just changed the saddles, the screws that came with the saddles were a little short in my opinion. but oh well, the smallest key on the "imperial" I guess fits, so not all is lost. I'm just a little slow. haha.
