i have an issue at my church we are trying to resolve. we have a second service for the younger kids in one room while the main service is going on. the kids service (room A) has music going about all the time. well, in the main service (room B) we can hear a thump, thump the whole time the service lasts. i have included a floor plan, any ideas on how we can stop this low frequency transmittion?

thanx

Tricky one here Lynn - perhaps you may have to build a room within a room in the loudest area - Room A. Most of the sound will be getting through the wall bewteen A and B. You could try putting a new surface on this wall, in Room A. Say a resilient channel with a double drywall layer. Also add some proper sound seals to the doors.

cheers

If you can hear a thump, thump all the time I guess its coming from the bass end of the music being played.

An easy way to lessen this and the cheapest would be to Eq the bass end down a bit.

Also where are the speakers, maybe they could be put on something that will stop the sound vibrating through the floor or walls.

I am not sure if I am any help here but its always best to try the cheap ways first.

thanks for the replies guys. we did a few tests tonight and determined what john already said. the most sound is coming through the wall between the two rooms. the room within a room thing is most likely what we will have to do. thanx again yall! i love this place!!
