I have installed my new Juli @ card instead of my old crappy soundblaster.
Its all with balanced cables between mics and preamp... before it was unbalanced.

The problem is that its a huge difference in recording input... I must set my Audio Buddy to "gain" 3:00 o`clock instead of about 10:30 before with my old stuff. I really dont understand why!?

The microphone setting in microsofts volume control is set to max. I guess its this one I should use since there are no controls for this in Juli @ software. Should it not be named line in??

What the hell is a julie @ card and software? I can't find it anywhere.

OK...

I have:

ESI Juli@ card with balanced line in.
M-audio Audio Buddy preamp with balanced in and out.
A condenser microphone.
All cables XLR - XLR and TRS - TRS balanced!

Before I had a different soundcard (soundblaster) and unbalanced cables, the same mic and preamp though. The difference between now and then is that the recordings (line in) is much lower than before, too low!

There isnt much software in Juli @, its a proffessional card but simple to use.
I also have its latest patch!

I crank my preamp up to 3 o`clock now to get a decent soundlevel.
Thats about 5 hours difference

Something must be wrong....?

The soundblaster works on a -10 line level. The balanced ins on your new card work at +4. That is the difference in level you are getting. Don't worry about it, just turn the preamp up to get the right level.
