low monitoring output at Fostex MR8

Hi there,


I just started with homerecording and bought a Fostex MR8.
When monitoring the output thru an normal HIFI Amp
the signal is very low.
When I use a headphone it works very well.

Does anyone have an idea what's wrong?

questions

did you use a pre amp or mixer, or did you record straight into the mr8? Are the proper sliders up to hear everything? where are the level readings on the display, no bad cords right??

Just a couple of questions to get things started.
