Everytime I export a stereo mix to my Mac from my DP-01FX, I notice the level of the song is pretty low. I run it through Audacity and normalize it but it doesn't make huge improvements. Is there a way to boost the final level of the song?

Let me clarify a bit becaue I was in a hurry earlier. I tried setting the master fader to a louder volume but that didn't seem to work on the final output. So is mixing everything louder my only viable alternative, or do I need to record at a higher volume?

No, in order to obtain louder volumes, you probably need to have your tracks mastered. Mastering involves applying selected EQ and other processing to optimize the sound. This is different from mixing. One thing that has become popular in recent years is the use of a limiter to boost the mean volume of the tracks, sometimes to ungodly levels.

Keep in mind, louder is not always better.

how quiet are we talking?
you should be recording your tracks at an optimal level then mixing them down at quieter levels. fundamental recording practice.
