Howdy,

Ok, on one of my tracks I seem to be getting some crackling sounds when I listened to it on itunes. It sounds fine in my DAW, and when I listen to it through RealPlayer, it just cracks on itunes.

Is this something that should concern me, or should I just forget about it.

Maybe your EQ settings in iTunes are making you hear a crackle you didn't realize was there before. Do you have iTunes set to convert your songs when you import them? That could be part of the problem too.

Thanks, I haven't touched the EQ settings in itunes for so long I forgot they had them.

One thing though, you said that " didn't notice was there", do you think should I go back and start tweaking?

It seems impossible to get a mix that sounds right everywhere, or is that just my inexperience showing.

btw, love your avatar.

Go to your EQ settings in Itunes. If the EQ is turned off, then it's not the problem. However, you can have your "Preamp" setting turned up too much, which can distort the audio. Or (this even happens on iPods), if you have a lot of bass in your track, and then you boost the bass in iTunes, you can distort it. It might sound fine on other music and still distort your track.

If this happens, but you still want the bass boost, turn down your preamp and turn up your speakers to compensate.

Yeah, I don't think its necesary to go in and try to tweak it. If you want to though, I'd set up the same EQ settings you had in iTunes on the master track in your DAW and solo each track until you find the track that's making noise. You can then EQ just that track to resolve the problem. If it's more than one track that's making noise I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks :) Yours it pretty cool too.
