It depends on the sound you want. Usually the low cut filter is used to eliminate low end mechanical noise or hum when recording instruments that don't produce frequencies below 80 Hz. The fundamental frequency of the low E on a bass is way below a low cut filter, so generally you don't want to use it. However, if you want a trebly, cutting bass tone, you can try it.
