My recordings are not that good yet...just thought I would post this song and see if I can get any feedback on how to improve...the drum parts are loops...In the next month or so Im getting ezdrummer so that should help my recordings...plus im recording using line in or whatever it is...im sure if I were to mic the amp I would get a much fuller sound...need to get a good mic.

Is the Rode NT1A condensor mic good for recording guitar or should I get a dynamic mic instead like a shure sm57 for recording electric guitar and just use the Rode for vocals and or acoustic.

Very nice lush phaser sound on the guitar...this has a kinda cool flowing vibe to it...the "lead" guitar plays a very nice melodic part, something I could hear a vocal doing...pretty cool!

The loops are too bad - bit loud though.
Some lush guitar sounds - I'd have gone for a more balanced stereo image personally.
Sometimes the lushness causes the guitars to merge.
Nice work though.

Thanks guys

This is definately a song that I will be recording again...I need to start with a good drum track which this doesnt have...plus the lead work would have to be re-arranged to fit a vocal track...perhaps start the song the way it is then do a verse and then add one of the beginning lead lines then break into the second part of the song.

Thanks for the comments...

Sounds like the beginnings of a George Harrison song. Hard to give any direction without the vocals in, but its the right start.

Nice job. Only thing I’d change is a purely subjective thing... the figure the guitar plays during its first two bars (:05) and later. That lick, usually played by folk guitarists on a first position D chord, has always irritated me. :D

I agree with ya on this one. it is a tad bit cliche. But I do like this song. some pretty good guitar tones and licks. i would love to hear it cleaned up a bit, though. :)

Haven't used the NT1A, but I like the 57 a LOT close up on the edge of an amp's speaker. Ballsy sound.

it does compliment the melody quite nice, though. making some pretty tasty harmonys.
