I reinstalled everything in my computer and I backed up the WAVEDATA folder in cakewalk but now one of the files (something.wrk with some wave files that i inserted) is playing only the midi files but not the wav files... (as if they - the wav files - were missing)..??!?!

Is there a way that I can save the whole song (including the wave files) in one place so I dont have to worry about the WAVEDATA folder in cakewalk????

Im using CW 9..

thanx

WRK files only contain pointers to the WAV data, which Cakewalk maintains in its own special directory.

If you move the WRK file to another machine, or reinstalled stuff but changed the relative path between the WRK file and Cakewalk's WAV data directory, the WAV data does not come along.

But you say that you saved the contents of your WAV data directory, so you should be able to patch things up. There is a free utility called the CWAF (Cakewalk Audio Finder) on the Cakewalk website that you might find useful in this regard.

For backing up projects you really should use the Cakewalk bundle (BUN) format...

when you open the project, it should give you the option to brows for the missing files, just direct it to the folder you backed up. that should open it. then like AlChuck said.. save it as a .cwb or .bun with older versions of cakewalk.

thanx

thanx for the tip.. I never used the *.bun format.... It doesnt ask me for the wave files, it just doesnt play (only in one out of 13 or 14 .wrk files - containing wave files)... someone told me that Sonar asks for the files if it couldnt find, Ill try all your suggestions.. thanx...
