Lost Metronome in Sonar

When I recently installed my Delta 66 and Omni Studio, I disabled the Soundblaster that came with my system. Once I did this I could no longer hear the metronome feature in my Sonar 1.0 xl.

The manual says there's an option for using computer speakers or a midi device to create the metronome's sound, but I don't have a midi device, so that's not an option.

The people on this board have been very helpful so far and I hope you can hook me up again.

Thanks.

This has been a frequent topic over at Cakewalks own forum. Sonar doesn't have any real audio metronome (yet). There's lots of workarounds though, so it's worth searching the forum. A popular choice is using "PingDXi", a softsynth especially for this purpose.

I use midi myself, so I don't have this problem.

This is really a "Cakewalk-problem", but what the heck:

The metronome disappeared because you have disabled the MIDI capabilities of the SoundBlaster. As you know, there's no onboard synth on the Delta 66, the metronome you heared was played by the SoundBlaster-synth.

Just to elaborate, with the midi looping feature in Sonar 3 and DXi's, there is really no need for the Sonar metronome.

You can create you own in about a minute. Create a one measure pattern of 4 quarter notes (using any sound you wish - side stick, cowbell, snare). Enable midi looping and stretch for the entire project length. Route the track your favorite DXi.

You could buy Ping, but I don't really see any pressing need myself.
