I just upgrade my interface from a Firepod to a Saffire Pro 26 (the older emerald coloured one) and I'm a little bummed out. I never had bit loss problems with my firepod, but now about every 20-30 minutes I start hearing clicks and pops in my speakers and if I'm recording something, it will often sound as if I'm running my input through a bitcrusher.

I can usually solve this problem by switching the clock source on the Saffire Pro Control Panel from "Int" (internal) to something else and back again, but sometimes when I'm using my ART Digital MPA Gold which I run in via SPDIF (and have to set the clock source to SPDIF) I can't get it to go away and have to turn the unit on and off before it becomes usable again.

I've updated firmware and even turned off my ADAT inputs (so the interface is only 10 channels like my FP was), but I'm still having this problem. Would getting a word clock help this situation? I bought it used, so I'm not sure what kind of warranty I still have on this thing. My laptop's not a peak performer, but if I could run this fine using my cheapo firepod, why is the Saffire having problems. I really don't think I should have to buy a wordclock but if it's going to fix the problem (and it's something I'll eventually need if I pipe in another 8 channels of ADAT down the road) maybe I'll just get it. Any suggestions?
