I am interested in a looper for learning riffs. I use my computer now and it works well. I can slow down to 1/2 speed without any sound or pitch loss. But it is tedious and difficult.

I notice there are devices out there that supposedly do this easier, although I have read varying opins about them.

Is there a good one out there. reasonable priced ($150 or less) that works?

I have seen serveral advertised.
Sabine BT-316M BackTrak Riff Recorder
Akai U400 Sampler

There may be others or better ones or if they all really are not that good I will just stick with my computer.

Thanks

I wouldn't go the stand alone route. Most of them use pretty low sample sizes and sample rates. What program are you using? On the PC, it helps to change the sample size/rate to the highest that your card supports.

If your trying to learn riffs, you should take a look at Power Tab. It's a software that allows you to write you one score in tab form or download scores by others. You can play it back in midi at whatever tempo you want. And it's free!

Take a look. Power Tab

Hey thanks guys. I will take a look at Power Tab.

After reading some more reviews about the stand alones I concur with what you are saying JR#97.

I use Goldwave software. It has an effect called time warp. It allows me to slow the music down but maintain the pitch. It works really well but needs some horespower to process.

How some of these guys play so fast is beyound me. I have to slow some riffs down to 1/2 to make out the notes.

Thanks
