Someone else recently had a post along these lines, but sounded a little more advanced than I am. So, rather than hijack his post, I thought I should start my own.
I am interested in creating loops. My general plan is this:
I have a Roland VS-1680 with which I would record some drum beat. I would like to be able to take this beat and make a loop out of it. The Roland's on-board looping is a bit lacking, so I though going the software route would help. Once I make a loop, I want to take it back to the Roland to record some live tracks on top - bass, guitar, keys, that sort of thing.
My computer is not exactly top-of-the-line. Indeed, it ranks somewhere between the dregs and the pits. I have Fruity Loops but it doesn't seem to do exactly what I am looking for. I also don't have a good soundcard - only the built in one, which prevents me from using some of the better software such as Pro Tools and Cubase. I can import files from the Roland as .wavs from a CD-R.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
