I know there is a lot of controversy about behrginer and all. I am looking to upgrade my sound. I currently have a 24 channel Berhinger running into a MOTU 24i. I also have an M-Audio DMP3. Just through the comparison between these two I realize how much Behringer decreases my sound quality. I'd like to find a 24 channel board with good preamps. I'd like some recommendations. Thanks in advance

well ....i'm not going to buy right now. I'm looking into buying for over the summer. Probably around 1500

If you can swing a soundcraft Ghost they are pretty sweet. You might be able to get a 24ch LE for under $2k on Ebay. They are a little more if you get the versions with Meter Bridge and Midi Mute Automation.

You would be better off then the Behr but not the Ghost. The Ghost is the next level up from the Mackies along with Soundtracs and a few others.

alright thanks for the fast response. I am figuring I might as well spend more for the ghost because it will avoid later "upgrades." I am gonna wait and watch ebay. Thanks again

Are the preamps in the live boards very different than the one's intended for recording?

wait

do you really need 24 channels? why so many?

you might be able to find some sort of cool sidecar unit for under 2k.

no actually i'd be fine with 16 channels. I mean I like to leave things patched in usually so there are times when I will use up to 22 channels. I have 24 channels on the motu. how would a sidecar help?
