Looking to buy presents for my husband

My husband is interested in eventually starting his own home recording business. He has Cakewalk Sonar 2.0. Unfortunately we don't have a computer to run it right now. However, he's still interested and I am looking for gift ideas. Is there a good book to help him on his way? He has the Sonar 2 Power book and Craig Anderton's Home Recording for musicians. He is interested in recording rock and acoustic stuff mainly.

I am also looking for cheap beginner mics. I found these on sale. Are any of them okay to start out with?

Nady brand:
SP-4C
Starpower 1
Starpower 9
SP5

AKG:
D6OS

Behringer:
XM8500

If any of you have any other gift ideas for a musician I would greatly appreciate it. I apologize that my post isn't strictly about home recording. I do the video, he does the audio. Also, it doesn't have to arrive my Christmas so time restraint isn't a problem. I am thankful for any and all feedback!

Those are some fine beginner mics...

serious recording engineers will tell you they never have "too many" mic choices.

You are a good wife! :)

Thanks! BUT!!!...... Since we don't have the computer capability at the moment for him to use them. Are there any suggestions to appease his immediate gratification quotient? IE Books gadgets etc...

You're in the right idea ballpark... Cost on the other hand....

You're close. I am looking at analog 4 tracks on ebay. We are supposedly not to spend more than $50 but I can do $100. Any more ideas?

When you say you do video and he does audio, are these meant to be combined? There are some nice upgrade mics for video cameras in your price range.

NO, I'm the only video person. He does audio, mostly music. I do video and some audio for video.

basically boys, if your wife/gf had 100 bux to spend on you and you were just starting out, what would you want?

lol i'd love her forever if she bought me the computer. without the computer, monitors, or mixer to plug anything up to....i'm not sure what would work cause most things 100 bucks or under need something else with it to be of interest. .......HEADPHONES!? its not going to do much good without anything else but atleast they can plug into the radio

you could always buy him a couple of lava lamps....no studio is complete without lava lamps
