Ahh humma humma humma
I'm not really building a new studio yet, but I had to have a place to complain.

"Eastern Skyline Studio" (see Velvet Elvis under John's site) has been dismantled for the near future as I have sold my house... (the new owner's take it over a midnight tonight)

Now this wouldn't be such a bad deal EXCEPT, we are constructing a new house and it (if EVERYTHING goes PERFECT) won't be done until late January.

So, the entire studio will sit dormant in boxes in a basement while my new house gets built.... then I have to start the whole construction process over from scratch.... Although I did have the architect sketch out some design ideas.

Ok... now... THIS is the part that REALLY makes me cry. Not only will I not be able to even so much as touch my gear for at least three months... I HAVE TO LIVE AT MY IN-LAWS HOUSE WHILE MINE IS BEING BUILT!!!!!!!! ARGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

*sniff sniff* Maybe one of you out there need me to come do a "consulting job" on your studio for a few months ;-) PLEASE?

Just remember to wrap a towel around when you walk out of the shower

Ummm... yeah... wrap a towel around... duct tape it... put a robe over it... bungee cord it closed... and then puts a sweatsuit on just for safety.

Heh-heh. When I married my first wife we lived with her parents for a month, originally scheduled for six months. I found living in my friend's garage on two cots without heat more pleasurable than living with my at-the-time inlaws.

Of course they didn't like my muffler-free GTO nor my 48" tired crewcab nor my long hair (at the time) and coincidentally, they didn't like me either.

I feel your pain....Our house won't be done until Jan.22nd,my studio is dismantled and in the corner in the basement..."sniff"etc.
We live with my folks until our house is done, frankly it's driving me nuts.....:( :( :( :(

Frederic...

Can I borrow your cots? Since I assume you are done with them now :) hehehehe

Harley... yep... that's about our schedule too... January 15th is the "supposed" date, but they JUST started digging yesterday. I'm guessing I'll still be at my in-laws come April :)

Been there. It sucks.
I havd to move twice once. (that sounds funny)
We sold our first house to have the money for the down payment on our current house. Made a nice tiddy little bundle of cash from the sale, but our current house wouldn't be ready for 3 months.

Try renting or leasing a place for only 3 months. Not easy! We finally found a tiny 2 bedroom condo, that would lease for 90 days. Everything was in boxes stacked to the ceiling in 2nd bedroom. My washer and dryer were in the living room, and my piano was in the breakfast nook! You had to walk around furniture and boxes to move through the condo. My gear was packed away for 3 months too, so, I hear ya bud.

Just remember:
"This too shall change."

Can I join the club? <start violin music >> my stuff's been piled high in the basement and everywhere else since i moved out of my last studio space in february ( ugh) I've got mics and bass traps loaned out to all my buddies. The only bright side is I'm currently getting my ya ya's out working ocassionally in a studio with a 32 channel Ghost console ( sweet!) . Counting down the weeks til my room is ready. Hang in there bub!

Why yes, I am 10 years done with the cots. Especially since I'm on wife #2 and I intend to keep her around as long as possible. Amazingly enough I actually like this one :)

We drove by the house today and all the windows and doors are in and there getting ready to pour the driveway, garage and basement floor. So,there making progress I can't wait much longer.....I'm almost ready to move in without the furnace, carpeting, bathrooms, etc.Who needs all that shit anyway's?
Once the basement floor is poured I'm ready to start building my studio.....:D I wish...:D :D

I suppose it could be worse..................hold on.......I'm thinkin'.......

Track Rat... trust me... it doesn't get much worse :)

Actually... my in-law's guest bedroom is quite nice...

Supposedly the footing are in and the should be putting the walls up tomorrow... but just like Murphy's law, we are having FREEZING weather in Iowa right now... go figure.
