Hello all! Come May, I will be in the market for a new notebook. 
My budget will be a MAXIMUM of around $2300 with trying to keep it as close to $2000 as possible (that's how much my student loan/extra scholarships cover). This computer will be mainly used for recording (Currently with a US-428... hopefully upgrading to an FW-1884 within a year or two) and gaming, so CPU, memory, and graphics are my main concern. Also, I get an 8% discount at Dell (student discount through my college).
Soooo... what do you think? Has anyone had any experience recording with the Pentium M's, and, if so, how did it go? I would really like a Pentium M because it has a decent amount of power (a 1.7 is comparable to a 2.6 or 2.8 P4) and has AWESOME battery life. Also, has anyone used an Athlon 64 mobile? Are there any benefits in the 64 bit processing?
As far as software, I plan on using Sonar 3 Producer Edition. I've had some experience with it and absolutely love it!
I apologize this post is kind of vague, but I'm currently at a loss of what to post... heh.
Let me say this: my two main considerations are Dell Inspiron 8600 and 9100. The 9100 is slightly cheaper, but more powerful with less battery life... MUCH less battery life (I configured it with a P4 3.2Ghz with hyper-threading and 512Mb of DDR400 ran in Dual Channel). The 8600 was similar, but more expensive, not as heavy, and has MUCH better battery life. Any thoughts or suggestions on any of the aforementioned items? Thanks in advance!!!

Only $500 will actually be a loan (which works great for me!!! 
I absolutely love Sonar 3. It's easy to use and is very powerful!!! Worked without a HINCH with my 428. Thanks for posting! Anyone else?
