Looking for some input!

My band recently recorded this using a DAW. We recorded both guitars and bass using 2 pretty cheap mics...one mic against the cloth of the amp angled towards the outside of the cone, and the second mic was about 4 feet away angled straight at the center of the cone. The Drums were recorded using these same 2 mics both used as overheads. I think i got a pretty good sound out of all of them, but i know there is definetely room for inprovement. These mics were fed straight into the input on my soundcard, no mixer or preamps. I just need some input on what you guys think about the song, and any tips you have on getting a better sound outta the guitars and drums. There are vocals for the song but they need to be re-recorded to get timing down, but i will post that song once it is done as well so you can help me with vocals, because right now that seems like the biggest prob of the song. Nothing has been compressed or EQ'ed, nothing like that. We did this in about an hour. Thanks a lot guys. Here is the link for the song:

BTW, cool tune, you can definately tell the mics were overhead of the drums, there's little to no kick in them at all. It also sounds as if you panned the guitars hard right, I'd bring them closer to the center.

Definately need a few more mics on the drums, way too little low-end on them suckers ;)

This just my 'quick' impression as I'm doing a heck of alot at the same time... So ignore me as the pro's step into the ring!

It sounds pretty terrible, but not bad when you consider the equipment you used. You seriously owe it to yourself to pick up at least a Mackie 1202 and after that some drum mics - just two overheads and a kick mic will get ya going.
 
Equipment

Ya we are planning on getting a Nady 7 drum mic package...with the condensor mics. I am getting an 8 channel mic preamp, and a Fostex Vm-88 digital mixer. I was thinking about getting a compressor/limiter and an equilizer but since i am going to feed this all into my COMP then i can just do compression and EQ using Sonar XL, which is what i have been using to record with. I am also getting a Shure SM57 mic for a close guitar mic and vocals...and an AKG-c1000 for the other mic for guitars. Do you think this equipment will help a lot....or is there anything else i need in order to get better sound quality out of everything? thanks
 
Mic Preamps

Also...Does the digital mixer we are getting...Fostex VM88 have mic preamps in it...or do i have to get a seperate mic preamp unit. I looked at one that is an 8 input mic preamp (for all the drum mics)...but if the mixer has good enough mic preamps for what i need them for then i would rather skip getting the mic preamp unit.
