Hello everyone at Homerecording,

I'm a "bedroom musician" (well the it's not actually my bedroom, but you get the drift) and I'm getting more and more into recording mt guitar and multitracking with my computer.

I would really like to learn about the variety of virtual stomps and amps.
are they any good? which one is the best?

cheers!

WF

Check out a unit called Line6 Toneport UX2 - I have that and the UX8 - the UX2 is what I use at home, it's an awesome unit with amp, fx, reverb, gate, compressor modelling etc. :)

Hmm... looks interesting... does it sound like the real thing to you?

Amplitube? pricey, but you can get some good sounds of it.

Oh yeah? what kind of stuff can you get out of it? is it more for funk / blues kind of tones or is it also good for higain stuff?

Download some demos or free plugins of guitar effects.
Do a google search or check out www.kvraudio.com.
Check out Computer Music magazine - the DVD always has free effects plugins and often demos of pricier software.

I'm trying the one year license of GTR Solo, and I must say I'm very impressed!

A decent, free guitar effects VST called FreeAmp. Get it at KVR. I used it for about a year while I saved up for the POD X3Live I use now.
