Looking for festivals

I'm looking for any decent listing of music festivals around North America so I can try and apply as a performer. My searches on the internet have come up with events that are either too high-profile or too traditional. I'm primarily searching for folk festivals, but anything that would accept a singer/songwriter would be fine...

Any ideas?

don't rule out the ones that seem to traditional as you say. festivals are working hard these days to present diversity and bring in new people.
 
When I say that certain festivals seem traditional, it's because they are self-described that way. I write a lot of folky tunes, but I have influences from a lot of other genres and a lot of my music doesn't fit in with what I sense they are seeking. I'll probably apply to many of them anyways, but it seems a little hopeless.
