The Way It Moves
During practice, our drummer has a hard time hearing whats going on. However, he does have a nice set of Vic Firth headphones that I would like to run directly out from the mixer. However, for some reason, when I run out of the mixer, it is only coming out in mono (left channel). How can I at least get bridged mono out of it? I used to have to tackle this by hooking up my PreSonus FireBox to the mixer so that it would send left and right.

Any tips?

what's the output on the mixer?

I plug in my Vic Firth headphones (not entirely comfortable, imo) to two channels for L/R on my audio interface - I have to use a 1/4 inch stereo splitter - a short Y cable -I'll try and find one and post a link if you think it'll help.

if you dont own a decent headphone amp, you should get one!

Seems like you are pluging the headphones into the monitor out of the mixer which is a mono signal. try the headphone outs. or if you want to use the mon. outs get a headphone amp which bridges the two sides of the headphones for you.

Yeah every mixer should have some kind of headphone out so that the engineer or what have you can monitor the mix through noise canceling headphones.

I think this might do the trick:

There's two problems though... your mixer might not go loud enough for a drummer (it might though) and if that's the case, just use some piece of shit stereo amp. I have an old Sony that works great.

The other problem is that adapters like the Radio Shack one make a disaster-waiting-to-happen on stage 'cause they stick out and scream "break me". Only a matter of time if you're like me. The better solution is to make a cable with a stereo jack on one end and a mono plug on the other. I have a set of old Sony DR-7 headphones I use for drums and they have a mono/stereo switch on the side, plus they're ultra comfortable. They sound old school but work for me for playing drums.

my firepod has stereo headphones out. doesnt your firebox have?

use those vic firth headphones in em, just gotta get a little jack(stereo) to big jack(stereo) converter
