creative does not bundle the audioHQ to manage the sound font libraries any longer with the Live OEM package. Anybody know where I can pick it up, beside creative?

creative sucks with quantum force.... $ greedy bas*#+@s

They have produced a a product line with multiple choices as to how to rob the consumers in 3rd world countries and the US preying solely on the confidence of the consumer to believe they`ll be able to recieve upgradable and affordable accesories, all off the same chip. And some think martha Stewart is a little bitch...

or Bill gates...

I have a document in my hand that shows where 12 models of the SB having the EMU chip are restricted by a register in one little eprom that prevents them from being SB LIVE 5.1's. That is sickening to see.....

Greed will have us all not burning in hell. but have hell brought to us if it hasn`t already been done....

I am really more frustrated and pissed right now than if I had been pissed on by Satan hisself. THEY don`t want this old ALABAMA BOY to go get in my truck and come up there....

Yeah, I heard all yall say don`t frig with Creative. But I was huntin a deal. I wish I could offer their marketing Guru a deal face to face right now.....

now that that its said and done I feel better. I just hope a few folks aren't taken by big business marketing scams after reading the cautions by some very level headed ppl on this board that offer sound advice on what to stay away from in the sonic accessories market. SOund blaster is good for games and such for that alluring "cheap" price... as far as offering something to the market you can purchase and grow with , forget it... its like that 5$ carnival ride that only lasts a short while, so they can get more 5$ in a hurry, and get everybody thru as fast as possible before word gets out that " it ain't worth it" .....

Actually I`ve wasted thousands of $ in my time on "quick joy" stuff before. The cash I wasted for this brand is meaningless cause its so cheap and sounds decent for what you buy. It will get you started, but... it`s a throwaway item as soon as you start thinking about a little more Sonic purity and widening the choices of expressions in timbre.. It`s just the thought of a company preying on the citizen's trust and patronage that really winds my tail up so tight my nostrils flare till you can't see my eyes.

Thanks again to all the Home Recording Pro`s that offered to steer me in the right direction. Your comments are appreciately amplified more now than before.

I apologize if It looks as though I was "padding".
I just hope I can help save some other person from being a $25 tidbit for the greed machine

You bought the wrong card, if you'd have posted the seller & item # before you ordered it, I'd have told you.
The same company even sells them.
....
An SBLive Value (~$23) is not the same as an SBLive 5.1 (~$33).

agreed, but after doing a little investigation I found that they ARE physically the same card. The only difference is that a register value on one of the chips thats settings prevent it from being a Live! 5.1 .

I deleted the 2 mg library so it can only load the 4 meg. THats the only way I found to change to banks using w98. Maybe with the XP machine I`ll be able to change them. The live!ware software offered at several sites does not work with this 4830 card in w98.

The sound is clearer and flatter than the old creative chip, but it doesn`t have the punch. I can deal with it till I get the sw1000xg. For midi I/O it works great and can handle more track information without getting confused. But, not having control over its hardware function really sucks and to find there is no support from its parent really binds me up.

Well, it might be or not. The info I found (on a Euro site) was that the Value lacked the digital output that the 5.1 has, and so had only four jacks + gameport on the back. The 5.1 has all 5 jacks + gameport..... Creative used to have multiple "disabled" cards for OEM purposes, sometimes spec'd by the resellers but got off doing this as the SBLive was relegated to second-tier product status.
- Reviews I found said that the Value shipped with the same software as the 5.1; it may be possible to get it to go 100%.

Can we just build a SBLive! Driver for SONAR that will routing output to 1,2,3,4,5 instead of Front LR, Rear LR, and Sub Woofer output...? So we can adjust our outlet to five different output independently ?

I wish I could find software for the 4830 that would work..
