Looking for a realistic piano DXi... and, what does Reaktor do?

Anyone know?

What are the coolest Dxi available besides DR-008... I kinda like Tassman and Dreamstation that came with Sonar, and my livesynth pro doesnt work since the demo expired a year before I used it.

I have just taken delivery of the latest Edirol dxi Orchestral. It has a far better Grand piano sample in it than previous edirol offerings (Vsc and Super Quartet). It requires a processor > 1G. The only piano sounds that come near it that I have are large piano soundfonts from the hammersound website. I havent used Reactor.

I have recently bought NI's Kontakt and am very pleased with the piano sounds that come with this, out of the box. 1 grand piano and two electric. That said my PC is rather less pleased (266MHz Pentium II) and struggles!! What an expensive game!!

MDA has a very nice "small" piano VSTi. If they don't also have a DXi - I never checked - you could use it with a wrapper.

It's called mdaPiano. Gives you a lot of control over the sound...

...and it's free.:)

I was also moderately impressed with the grand piano that came with Kontakt. The electrics didn't do anything for me.

Maybe try out gigastudio? Those pianos have fooled me more than once.

Well... If you consider using Soundfont, then this site has something to offer you. I used this great baby, however, it's tuned A442 rather than regular A440. So you wanna tune it down about -12~-14 cents...

Scroll down the page to find the free download link. It's a huge (~25MB) one.

Cool...
Hey John Hoe, what are the other sounds like? What did you pay for it? That sounds intersting, I really dont like the piano sound in the VSC though, sounds cheap and boxy.
Peace.

Is Kontact a DXi?

Reaktor is a software modular synth. It can be done as VST and maybe dxi, i'm not sure... I love Reaktor, but it's not quite for piano sounds =)). You can do alot of stuff with it, analog synths, grainular synths..

I have demos of both Reactor and Absynth... I looked at Reactor, way too much trouble and I have no idea what all that shit does.
Gonna check out Absynth later on today.

Excuse me hijacking the thread!
Hey Tubedude...
Yeah Edirol Orchestral has got some unique orchestral samples in it. For instance it has SEVEN different french horn styles ie swells, mutes rips etc. Many instruments have vibrato and pizzicato samples. The samples seem much more varied and larger than previous Edirol products. I can see that I might use it to get lush and full orchestral sounds... wall to wall sound. But I guess if everyone uses it we will even get bored of those sounds as well eventually. My own favourites are the vibrato flute and piccolo sounds but the best section is the brass section which has loads of raspy sounds including a slide trombone. Oh another great thing is the style button that lets you compose for different kinds of orchestra eg Baroque, String Quartet, Marching band and of course full standard Orchestra. It costs TOO MUCH £219!! Thats $300 to you.

I love the Edirol Orchestral DXi! I've just bought it (and now I'm broke) after testing the demo... it's beautiful! But now I need to learn how to program nice orchestral-parts, which is rather difficult IMHO... :)

Apparently you won't get the demo from the website. I got mine from a friend who works in a music store...

I'm not gonna post anytime soon. You scared me! You are gonna laugh at me! I can't sing or play or arrange orchestra music! My music sucks compared to yours. And take that as a compliment, please...

I'll get better, then I'll post...
