i know i mentioned using a telephone effect once, but i didn't hit the sound i was looking for. At the time i just went for it cause i was sorta naive about sound.
What I'm looking for is kinda a 15sec old flaming lips vocal into a powerful Foo Fighters vocal sound. Not really telephone, but something kinda odd like that.
i know i could eq and effect etc, but i really want the mic to give me at least the majority of the sound right off the bat.

run it thru a distortion pedal with the tone knob all the way up!
