Hey guys, I know most of you are very busy so I'll try to get to the point. I've been a amateur musician for most my life and having seen all these amazing artists come out on youtube, I wanted to give a shot at it. However, although I know how to play the instruments live, I can't seem to get a handle on how to record instruments/vocals and mixing them properly.
I'm interesting in recreating this song:
https://www.youtube.com/user/miniachilles#p/u/6/Uuh_IfVtJ3M
Its for my girlfriend of 7 years and I think she would love it.
I have the following equipment:
AT 2035 condensor Mic
Shure SM57
2 mic stands
Yamaha p70 Keyboard
(soon to get midi to usb cable)
Seagull S6
Logic Express 9
Apogee Duet
If someone is kind enough to be my mentor, I'd really appreciate it. I'm a quick learner, but I don't know where to start and how to get the result I'm looking for.

, but you should let the whole community here (and abroad on the interwebs), be your mentor. If, in fact, you were looking for one person to walk you through it. The reason being no one knows it all. We all have different bits of info that can help your situation. With that being said, the equipment you have is a good start. I'm assuming you have it all connected and have the basics of your recording program under your belt? If so, go to my next paragragh. If not, then let us know and we can get someone in here that is familiar with your gear and get you going.
