Um...not for bedtime reading.

I'm trying to track down a few books to solidify my understanding of fundamental recording and mixing techniques. So far I've heard good reviews of "Modern Recording Techniques" by Huber, and "Mixing Engineer's Handbook" by Owsinski. I thought I would put the question before the court before I laid down my dollaz. Anyone have an opinion? I bet you do!

Holla back,
Peter

the best place to get books cheap is half.com
they're got modern recording techniques for $4.99 used

also try The Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook

I know it's a book about sound for concerts, but if you want to know some physics, how mics work, etc. it;s a great book.

The cheaper copies on half.com were older editions. I thought that I should probably stick with the more recent ones since I'm using modern methods for recording.

My university has a few physics classes that are great for understanding sound and wave phenomena. I still have my textbooks, so I probably will pass on the Yamaha book. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Can anyone attest to the books I mentioned before?

Thanks, Peter
