I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a soundblaster soundcard would work well enough for recording on your computer from a four-track.

Will I need to look higher in price to get a buzz free recording, or are there good recording quality soundcards for low prices.

My price range is up to $300.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

How many outputs do you have on your 4-track recorder?

If you only have 2 outputs and if you are doing some basic homerecording then it would be OK for you to use the SB soundcard.

If you have 4 outputs on your 4-track, I woild suggest you to buy a Delta 66 (4INS/4OUTS).

Is your 4-track analogue or digital?

If it is digital I might suggest something other than the SB sound card.

I mostly agree with Spinster, except that if you don't have any digital equipment you're using, save $100 and buy the Delta44. Still 4inputs, just no additional digital input.

I mostly agree with Hard2Hear, except that if you ever might get any digital equipment (Johnson J-Station, Line6 POD Pro, Yamaha DG-Stomp, etc.) you'll wish you had spent the extra $50 street price and gotten the Delta 66... :)

I mostly agree with AlChuck, except... well, no
exception.

I bought a Darla24 card, which I like a lot. It
has two ins and eight outs, because I work alone
in analog. I was sure I would never need digital in.

I just bought an electric violin and ordered a pod
pro. Dang, wish I woulda spent more and got a digital in.
Better safe than sorry.

bornmad,
Echo has a new card out, called Mia. I think it is
2 ins, 2 outs, and I believe it has a digital
in too. http://www.echoaudio.com It is $199 at Guitar
Center, maybe it is worth a look

Hey David, thanks. The price on that is really nice, and seeing that my 4-track has only two outputs, it seems relative. Thanks for the suggestion.
