Hey Guys I'm looking for a 50's style mic. You know the one's w/ all the chrome.......It doesn't even have to work, just look cool on a stand. See, my wife is a drama teacher at the local HS and they're doing a musical (Zombie Prom) that's a spoof of shows like Grease and they need a mic to use as a prop in one of the numbers.
The bad news is their already meager budget is nearly gone, however she can also provide tax deductible receipts.........and those can be nice to have this time next year :D
If you have a cool looking retro mic you be willing to loan out, sell, or donate please let me know.
Thanks,
Ben

Also, sorry about posting in the mic forum instead of the classifieds.......it just seemed like it would fit in better here.

Well, Tajmoben- Good news and bad news. I've got the mic you're looking for- a Shure 55C made in 1942 or so, refurbed with the red silk and all. Bad news- it's 2.5 lbs., and requires an Amphenol cable (which I have). By the time it was shipped back and forth from Massachusetts with insurance and the cable, you could probably have just bought that Nady copy. Good luck.-Richie

It's a spoof musical... make it out of cardboard and aluminum foil!

We've actually been trying to figure out how to do that. Maybe we can get some of the tech kids working on one.....

Perhaps one of those small cereal boxes wrapped in tin foil. And detailed with a sharpie. Slice and dice and tape to shape, or just beat it up a bit for that vintage look.

Is the Shure 55SH the one you see in those Foo Fighter videos? And see in those old political clips for the likes of Stalin, Castro, and others. Or is there a bit more history on that model?

I've actually heard really good things about the Heil Heritage, but sadly it's out of budget. However, I've got good news.......one of the local(ish) community theatre groups has a Shure 55 and we're borrowing it for the show. :)

Thanks for all the suggestion guys!!!!! You're all super rad!!!
