John, a moment of your valuable time
John,
Sorry to change the subject but you mentioned you worked in TV for 5 years....
Ever come across location DATS recorded in M/S Stereo? I've got to do a sound mix for a short film on a home DAW and the DATS are all M/S (a stereo ambient track combined with a punchy mono track for dialogue).
Do you know the best way to decode the Mono and Stereo tracks - I'm told the idea is you assign the M and S for every take to seperate channels then fade the stereo up or down to add ambience/ remove background clutter as appropriate.
I'm basically wondering if I need to hire a special mixer than can decode M/S recordings, or whether there's an easier way?
Cheers
Klytus
